Breakpack 1 Description
Breakpack 1 picks up where the Beginner Lessons left off by introducing two new chord progressions: the 4-1 and the 4-3-2-1.
Each progression is taught with two-handed voicings, where you will learn how to form 3579 chords (also called rootless chords) that will serve as guide tones for your soloing. You will also learn one of my favorite voicings, the 1-5-9 voicing for your left hand, and use it with rootless chords to make your playing sound full while improvising.
Specific soloing techniques on the 4-1 and 4-3-2-1 are introduced, along with practice exercises. All of the techniques learned so far are used to create a real-time piano improvisation, and different ways to implement them in your playing are demonstrated.
